Ho Chi Minh City received 3 more critical cases after the vegetarian diet

On the morning of March 27, the 115 People’s Hospital (Ho Chi Minh City) said that it had received 3 more critical cases of suspected vegetarian pate poisoning after eating vegetarian vermicelli, vegan and vegetarian pate. Thus, up to now, the 115 People’s Hospital alone has had 4 emergency cases of suspected vegetarian pate poisoning.

Doctor Tran Van Song, Deputy Director of People’s Hospital 115, said all three newly admitted patients are from the same house, living in Phu Cuong ward, Thu Dau Mot city, Binh Duong province.

In particular, the patient Đ.D.LU (female, 42 years old) is in contact with understanding, the strength of the limbs has improved but still has a drooping eyelid, calling his eyes open. Patients with TTD. (female, 43 years old) contact, open eye, limb muscle strength 3/5. And patients with autism (female, 22 years old) now call to open eyes slowly, muscle strength in the extremities 3/5, droop eyelids.

Particularly, the female patient of CNH (53 years old; living in An Thanh ward, Thuan An city, Binh Duong province) was previously hospitalized to understand, her limb muscle strength improved but still collapsed.

“Currently all 4 patients have to be endotracheal breathing machine to support breathing and are being actively treated in the Department of intensive care – Antitoxicity of the hospital” – Dr. Wave said.

According to the initial information, the above patients all went to the Chieu Dieu Temple area in Binh Duong province to eat vegetarian food (vegetarian vermicelli, vegan pate, vegetarian pate), in which pate is swollen lid and sour taste. After eating, they all had similar symptoms: difficulty speaking, muscle weakness, shortness of breath and rapid development of respiratory failure.

The Ho Chi Minh City Food Safety Management Board is also urgently coordinating to verify and collect information for handling according to regulations.
