Ford holds 60% market share in Vietnam’s pickup segment in 2021

This achievement is thanks to the great contribution of Ford Ranger in Vietnam, the best-selling pickup truck model today. With total sales reaching 15,650 vehicles in 2021, up 18% over the same period last year, Ranger helps Ford capture 60% of the pickup truck market share.

In 2021, Ford acquires 60% of the market share of the pickup segment in Vietnam.

Besides, the sample Ford Everest midsize SUV also saw strong growth in the segment with 5,485 vehicles completing rolling procedures. As a result, Ford easily holds 40% of the market share of the midsize SUV segment. Modern, spacious and safe driving support technology and strong and stable performance are the advantages that help Everest conquer customers.

Although the Covid-19 epidemic has negatively affected the tourism and passenger transport industry, the demand for Ford Transit cars has not decreased. With sales reaching 898 vehicles in 2021, Ford’s 16-seat model became the best-selling vehicle in its segment for the ninth year in a row.

2021 marks the 20-year history of the Ford Ranger appearing in the Vietnamese market with sales of 100,000 vehicles sold to the Vietnamese market. Along with that, Ford Vietnam decided to switch to domestic assembly for the Ford Ranger 2022 in order to stabilize the supply. To prepare for this plan, the US automaker has invested VND 2,000 billion to upgrade its production plant in Hai Duong to meet Ford Motor’s global assembly process standards.

This change is considered a historic turning point for the American car company in order to adapt to the changes of the market and at the same time proactively supply domestic customers.
